FR Skates, a forward-thinking brand, identified evolving patterns in the skating world and developed their exclusive triskates, with the FRX 310 Orange model providing an exceptional balance of quality and affordability.
These skates feature a sturdy hardboot construction made from long-lasting materials and come with a multitude of practical attributes that have gained the appreciation of countless skaters. The shell is designed with a more open cut than typical skates, enhancing comfort, particularly for those with a high instep.
From the top of the skate, the FRX 310 Orange shares the same cuff as its pricier counterparts, with the only distinction being the use of standard screws for attachment instead of a canting system. However, this should not be considered a drawback, as very few skates include a canting feature. FR Skates were pioneers in incorporating a replaceable abrasive pad on the side, also known as a "slider," which extends the life of the boots by shielding them during wheel slides or shuffles. As expected, this component is present in this version as well.
The mount spacing is 165mm, and the boots are compatible with most frames using this standard, including triskating frames, which are easier to attach due to a unique wheel well next to the front mounting point that allows more space for larger wheels.
Within the shell lies a cozy, anatomically contoured liner that can be laced at the top to secure the foot in place. Boot tightening consists of laces, a plastic buckle on the cuff, and a 45-degree Velcro strap on the shell. The plastic buckle and Velcro strap not only reduce the skate's cost but also make the boot slightly lighter without compromising foot security. For those who prefer a 45-degree buckle, there is an easy option to replace the Velcro strap with one.
The skate is equipped with a new X2 310 frame, measuring 232mm in length, and comes with FR Street Kings 110mm wheels and Twincam MW7 Freeride bearings. The FRX 310 Orange, akin to its higher-priced sibling, the FR1 310, stands out among 3x110 skates, as its frame is shorter than those of other brands. This design makes it more agile and better suited for freestyle-like maneuvers, albeit slightly less stable for skating. Nonetheless, it performs admirably in urban settings.
